Hey peeps

My name is Sam and I've been on this forum for a while already. I like 8thgolf.com, even though there are not too many people here.

Currently driving 2012 Golf 2.5L Comfortline, but can't wait to jump on the newer model.

Looking forward to talking to you in the forum!

-Sam

Welcome to the community here.

Give it time, as more people join you will see more reasons this forum makes sense, for one it will attract a slightly different demographic which on its own changes the landscape of a forum.
Are you planning to sell your 2012 Golf privately or trade it in?

I don't know yet... First of all, I want to talk to my dealer and see what he offers. If that price gonna be too low, I'll try to sell it privately.

How much are you looking to be offered from your dealer, i'm sure you have some sort of price range in mind already given the fact you're ready to let go of it.

Being that this is a trade in, they could give you a bit more for it.

You can always ask dealers around you what they would offer and report it back here.

I just checked online car marketplace and it seems like the most of 2012 Comfortlines cost around $10k. Hence, I think I can expect about $8,000 for my car as a trade in, which is not bad. Anyways, I'll talk to my dealer and tell you guys what they offer.

$8,000 for a 2012 car doesn't seem so bad, but then again I've never really traded a car in as I tend to drive them into the ground. If that's what it's quoted for, I wonder how much you'd get in a private sale.

I think maximum what you can get for 2012 Golf (without knowing its conditions) in a private sale is $13k. It all depends on the mileage and the condition of your car.

My Golf has around 83,000 km on it and it's in a very good condition (clean inside/outside, no scratches). If I'll sell my car privately, I'll put $11k price tag on it. Do you think that's a reasonable price?

Don't know how much those Golfs are worth but if its as good as you say, posting it up on a lot of marketplaces could get you some reasonable money back. Of all compact hatches in recent times those Golf's seem to hold value the best.

Hope so! I will post it up soon and see what's gonna happen. I think that if I won't sell it after two months, I'll just trade it in.
